Following the success of the first edition, the programme maintains the same vision: to offer a first professional experience with practical learning and professional guidance within a highly complex environment such as the City of Justice of Barcelona and L’Hospitalet.
This initiative, promoted by URBICSA with the support of its shareholders Proelec and the investment funds Vauban and Aberdeen, reinforces the company’s commitment to youth employability, intergenerational knowledge transfer and the connection between education and business.
A gateway into the sector
The Ramon Serra Scholarships were created with the aim of going beyond a conventional training experience. Their objective is to help young people who have recently completed Vocational Training programmes begin their professional careers supported by experienced professionals and in direct contact with the needs of the sector.
In this 2nd edition, URBICSA aims to continue bringing young talent closer to building maintenance, a key area for the daily operation of complex spaces and one that faces an increasingly evident challenge: preparing new generations of technical professionals.
Maintenance, installations, air conditioning, energy efficiency, safety and the technical management of buildings are disciplines that require knowledge, judgement and adaptability. For this reason, the programme focuses on learning through practice and gaining first-hand insight into how a public infrastructure with a high level of daily activity operates.
The City of Justice as a learning environment
The City of Justice is much more than a group of buildings. It is a large-scale infrastructure where every system must respond precisely so that daily activity can run smoothly.
In this context, young participants can discover the work behind the proper functioning of these spaces: preventive maintenance, technical coordination, incident resolution and continuous monitoring of systems.
This direct contact provides a better understanding of the value of technical trades and the importance of maintenance as an essential part of building and infrastructure management.
Commitment to the professional future
With this new edition, URBICSA reaffirms its understanding of corporate responsibility based on concrete action: creating opportunities, transferring knowledge and contributing to the professional future of new generations.
The Ramon Serra Scholarships respond to a real need in the sector: facilitating generational renewal in essential technical professions that are often not very visible. Opening the company’s doors to young talent helps create links between training and employment, strengthens the professionalisation of the sector and highlights the value of essential trades.
Because the future of infrastructures is also built by training, supporting and giving real opportunities to the people who will make them work tomorrow.
