Every day, judges, lawyers, prosecutors, legal professionals and citizens who need everything to work properly: that the rooms are operational, that the technical systems are responsive and that the environment is safe, efficient and suitable for the activity it hosts.
URBICSA is the concessionaire company in charge of the management, maintenance and operation of the City of Justice in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, with a key role in the continuity of the service and in the permanent improvement of this public infrastructure. We are talking about more than 232,000 m² of surface area in one of the largest judicial complexes in Europe.
ESG: management, measurement and transparency
Sustainability is part of URBICSA’s day-to-day management. The company has obtained a score of 98 out of 100 in the GRESB 2025 assessment, an international assessment that measures the environmental, social and governance performance of real estate assets and infrastructure.
In addition, there is the EMAS registration, ISO 14001 certification, the Environmental Quality Assurance Badge, a formalised ESG Committee, a decarbonisation strategy based on the CRREM tool and the progressive incorporation of sustainable criteria into the supply chain.
For URBICSA, these elements are not isolated actions, but are part of a management model aimed at efficiency, transparency, resilience and long-term value creation.
Innovation applied to daily management
In the management of public infrastructures, innovation does not always translate into big headlines. It often consists of technical, constant and measurable actions: improving facilities, reducing consumption, optimising processes and anticipating future needs.
During 2025, URBICSA has promoted actions such as the replacement of lighting with LED technology, photovoltaic generation, water reuse, the improvement of energy efficiency and the professionalization of its internal ESG governance and monitoring systems.
These are measures that contribute to reducing consumption, avoiding emissions, improving the quality of service and reinforcing the sustainability of an essential infrastructure for citizens.
