Who is Urbicsa?
URBICSA, Urbs ludex et Causidicus SA, is the concessionary company in charge of the financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the Ciutat de la Justícia de Barcelona and l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, as well as the commercialization of offices, premises and parking lots in the surrounding area.
URBICSA was incorporated on 6 August 2003 and is currently comprised of the following partners: Vicos (Vauban), Copisa, Aberdeen and Proelec.
The project and construction of the City of Justice of Barcelona and l’Hospitalet has represented a global investment of some 320 million Euros and is being developed through the public works concession method.
This method, which started to be used in the United Kingdom, has subsequently spread throughout Europe to the point where it is now the most widely used model for large infrastructures. The URBICSA concession was one of the first projects to be awarded under this model in Spain for a large building infrastructure.
Since then, several local, regional and national administrations throughout Spain have used this system for their projects (Community of Madrid, Valencia, etc.).

The largest judicial civil works project ever built in our country. Eight large buildings, seven of which are intended entirely to house all the judicial bodies of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and most of those of Barcelona, and the other for complementary uses such as shops and offices.
In total, a total surface area of 232,368 m2 with 152 courtrooms, 104 courtrooms, an auditorium for 500 people, a car park for more than 1,700 vehicles, 80km of archives, specialised libraries, a laboratory, cells… which required an investment of 320 million euros, 255 million of which were used for the building work.
With an influx of 13,000 people per day, comprising civil servants, prosecutors, forensic experts, magistrates, legal professionals and the citizens who use this public service.
